"Liliane Lijn has worked across media -- kinetic sculpture, film, performance and collage -- to explore language, mythology and the relationship between light and matter. In 2013, she was short-listed to produce a sculpture for the Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square and her work featured in Republic of the Moon, curated by The Arts Catalyst, London. MY ANALYSIS
I AM PARTICULARLY INTERESTED IN LIJN'S PRESENTATION AND FORMAT OF TEXT. THE UNCONVENTIONAL METHOD OF PRESENTING WORDS AND LETTERING ON ROTATING PLATFORMS ALLOWS THE VISUAL LANGUAGE TO BECOME MORE APPARENT.
THE OFTEN LIMITED COLOUR PALETTE CREATES A VERY SOPHISTICATED AESTHETIC.
I FIND THE USE OF VARYING FONTS AND SIZES EFFECTIVE AND TO BE SOMETHING I COULD USE IN MY OWN WORK.
THE SELECTED WORDING IN LIJN'S WORK IS ABLE TO RESONATE WITH THE VIEWER AND IS CHOSEN TO PROVOKE PERSONAL ASSOCIATION. --------> ALTHOUGH I FIND THIS VERY INTERESTING I MUST BE CAREFUL NOT TO FOLLOW THIS TOO CLOSELY IN MY OWN WORK AS I AM STUDYING DIFFERENT FORMS OF COMMUNICATION.
